L-sITes developers created two companies (Digital Dollars, Inc. & ITSytsems, Inc.) along with an array of scenarios for simulation – some are geared toward specific customer service and troubleshooting situations while others focus on the internal firm strategies such as company growth plans or market position. Each student plays a different role – such as marketing, finance or technical staff person – in the simulation, or several students collaboratively play a role, according to faculty preference. Reflecting the unpredictable nature of the real workplace, the situations contain possible hitches – problems that come up as students work on their tasks. Each of the scenarios has a suggested work plan and instructor's notes to assist implementation, as well as supporting documents and software files that enable the simulation. Which allows the faculty member the ability to choose how to run their simulations and L-sITes encourages flexibility. Florist Service | Restaurant Chain | | An online florist needs Digital Dollars to develop a real-time inventory and order management system after a series of order-fulfillment issues. | In this scenario, ITS employees must design an integrated network and back office solution for a chain of restaurants allowing for real-time data sharing between establishments. |
Brief summaries and descriptions for L-sITes two IT companys (Digital Dollars, Inc. & ITSytems, Inc) can be seen by clicking on the their titles above (Florist Service or Restaurant Chain). |
